sTUCK IN HIGH sCHOOL

March 21, 2016

I went back to High School this week. I just couldn't stay away hahaha. The youth in our ward have an LDS club and they invited the Elders to come so we went to High School! Well everyone is complaining about my emails being short so here is a super sweet spiritual experience from this past week. We are teaching a Jewish Rabbi right now. He knows like 39378954653047590348590 times more than i do and he speaks tons of languages including Hebrew and knows the Torah like the back of his hand. So he thinks his grandfather was a mormon. We have been working with one of our members to do his family history  to find out if he was. But this past week we went over to Rabbis house and he pulled out his grandpas briefcase so we could get some information. He has looked through that briefcase tons before but this time we found a special paper. It was his grandfathers Patriarchal blessing. He told me and Elder Rodriguez to read it and explain to him what it all meant. In it it said that his grandpa would be an example to his children and most of them would join the church. He then bore to us his testimony of Jesus Christ and cried because his entire life has been leading up to this. Its amazing what the Spirit can do to people and how it can touch their lives and change them. I cant say that it is anything i did because i know that it was God working through me to touch his life. I love my mission. I love the people and i am trying to love them more and more everyday.

I received pictures and videos from Sister Rush, she took good care of him for his bday!

This is the picture Baylor sent me all the others are from sweet angels who know Baylor doesn't share much with us:)

March 7, 2016

Well this week has been very very eventful. I drove to the top of a huge mountain and was in the pines again (loved it), taught a Jewish Rabbi (it was awesome), went on another temple trip and the San Diego temple is the prettiest temple ever, went on exchanges with my mission brother Elder Farley, worked in alot of sketchy trailer parks, gave alot of blessings, and attended one of the coolest testimony meetings ever. Its been a great week!!!

.Valley Center is the best ward ever. I love it here. This morning we woke up at 445 to play basketball with my Bishop Chapman, my wml Bro. Reily and his two twin boys that are seniors and studs and played basketball and football in high school. It was such a good time!!! Our ward mission leader throws down with everyone about doing missionary work and its the best. VC is great.  Its a small town family feel. My WML, Brother Reily is the man. He is throwing down on everyone cause our teaching pool isnt where its supposed to be. This ward is so missionary minded its ridiculous. I am loving it here. Elder Rodriguez is hilarious and we are having a blast driving around in a truck all day.

We have lots of investigators and teach a lot of lessons.  There are so many great people here! I don't have much time today but Valley Center is awesome and i love it. Ill send more next week

Del Mar Leavin'

February 22, 2016

Well my time on the beach has run out. I will be headed to Valley Center in the Escondido zone tomorrow. My comp will be Elder Rodriguez (my former DL in Carlsbad) and we will be in a full time truck driving around the mountains and country all day haha Im super super pumped its a great ward and an English ward with Spanish translations so its gonna be a blast! Del Mar has been super tough but im glad for my time here and have made some good relationships with great people. . But this is most likely my last area next to the ocean so that's kinda sad.

Its always sad leaving an area, especially a branch. This branch was a family. Everyone was so tight and it was just a great experience being here with these members. The tiny little branch of the few Hispanics here in Del Mar that I grew to love. It was worth grinding and struggling every day. So yeah goodbyes are the worst but im excited for the future

Go Patriots right? We'll get em next year... This week has been fantastic. I was pretty much out of my area on exchanges with other Elders so it went by really really fast. I saw a lot of miracles and a lot of hearts changed this past week. Me and Bucko are still out here grindin but we started teaching an 18 year old man (man not kid cause Im also 18) named Eduardo. He is from Guatemala and barely speaks English or Spanish he speaks mam i guess its a dialect from there. Most of the time i don't think he really understands what we are teaching him but he can feel the spirit so that's all that matters right? No we are working with him and he is willing to learn. Other than that not much is happening. Love you all!

What missionary work looks like in Del mar haha

Hello outside world. Im 18 years old and already tired of meetings. This week has been long but pretty good overall. Lots of meetings. Mom and Dad I met a member who has a private beach house in Punta Mita so you need to get in contact with them so we can go stay there haha. This week I did some service at the boys and girls club. Met Earnie the coolest homeless guy ever who knows a lot about temples. Watched a broadcast from SLC. Biked again. and talked to a lot of strangers.

We listened to a broadcast and Elder Grow of the 70 spoke. He spoke on the importance of reading the scriptures, praying, and attending church. As a missionary these are the three things that I invite everyone to do. These are also the three things we can do as members to strengthen our faith. So everyone read and pray daily and go to church every week. Simple enough right? Have a great week love you all.

Everything is rough haha. This area is tough. its really humbling though that's for sure. We get transfer calls this Saturday and im pretty sure im leaving but ill find out for sure on Saturday. Yeah its been warming up here a lot lately, gonna be a long summer! haha

Work is slow we cant find the couple of investigators we were teaching, they just disappeared.  Have a great week
love you all.

I guess boxed water is cool now now??!!

Cali Life

February 1, 2016

Hello outside world. This week has been solid. I made like 1000 peanut butter and jelly sanwhiches with old Catholic women for prisoners in Tijuana. The power went out like 10 times on Sunday because of rain and wind. Got a free haircut from a sweet barber. Knocked on who knows how many doors and got told no who knows how many times. Taught an English class. Taught some Guatemalans. Knocked some more doors. That's pretty much how the week went right there.

Yesterday was Stake Conference here and Elder Nash of the seventy was there. He spoke really powerfully on the plan of salvation. He used Ether 2:17 as an example and how we all need to be "tight like unto a dish" meaning we need to make sure the little things are all taken care of and we are able to overcome and trails that we will have in our lives how the Jaredites did in their barges because they were "tight like unto a dish".

im learning tons and loving life. Love you all
